Over the publication in the newspaper "Business Petersburg" from 1 March 2010. On behalf of the company ST. Peter line, we are authorized to state that the project to launch a new ferry line St. Petersburg - Helsinki has nothing to do with the "floating casinos" and / or organization of gambling. Casino is a common structural element and is available on all ferries and passenger vessels operating on international routes, along with bars, restaurants, duty free shops and other entertainment on board. The opinion expressed by the editors of the newspaper "Business Petersburg" is untrue and does not have an objective basis. On the 20th of April 2010 opened a new international ferry. Passenger ferry "Princess Mary" 5 times a week will carry traffic on the route Saint-Petersburg-Helsinki.
One voyage from St. Petersburg will be held as an entertainment cruise and it will not enter any foreign ports. Such voyages can be organized as corporate events. St. Peter line needs this trip in order to preserve the weekly departure from Helsinki on Thursdays, and from St. Petersburg on Fridays.
St. Peter line’s main purpose of opening the ferry line St. Petersburg – Helsinki is to revive ferry navigation and develop of sea tourism in St. Petersburg and other ports of Russia.
“Princess Maria” ferry will provide a unique opportunity for foreign tourists to enter St. Petersburg without a visa for 72 hours. This will let the city attract additional 300 000 tourist during a year.
According to the calculation of tourism labour income, the opening of the new ferry line will give St. Petersburg more than 30 million Euro per year by way of cash flow from foreign tourists and more than 10 million Euro in way of commissions to budgets of different levels.
Advanced sale of tickets started on March 1, 2010. The new ferry line will become the most affordable and comfortable way of traveling between Russia and Finland. It will also foster economical, cultural and trading relations between the two countries.
